NOMINATION BY PETITION PROCESS
Diocese of Alaska
Closes Midnight Feb 12, 2010
The Nomination by Petition process is the equivalent of “nominating from the floor” for the position of Bishop. It is necessary to ensure the Oxford Document background checks are completed before the electing convention. A new nomination at convention would require waiting (6 weeks) for a successful background check to certify election. The names of all those nominated by the Standing Committee and, should there be any, by the Petition Process will be placed in nomination at time of convention.
The nomination and all required documentation must be COMPLETED and RECEIVED by the Search Committee no later than midnight February 12, 2010 to the address provided on the Nomination Form.

- Alaska has a rich history of evangelism. Yet even while new ministries spring to life, we struggle to attract new people to our churches. What would you propose as an evangelism strategy for Alaska?
- Alaska is a young state in that its median age is fairly low. Alaska also has a heritage of honoring its elders. Describe your work with youth and elders.
- Based on your reading of the diocesan profile: What do you see as your greatest challenge as the Bishop of Alaska? What excites you most about the position?
- The Bishop of Alaska serves the largest area of any bishop in the United States. How do you currently maintain a healthy mind and body while balancing the demands of your vocation with relational and personal needs?
- Most of our clergy are non-stipendiary and work in isolation from other priests. How would you provide pastoral care and support for these disciples?
- Our Diocese is highly diverse in culture. Many of our heritages are unique to Alaska. What leadership experience do you have with diverse cultures?
CANDIDATE DVD REQUIREMENTS:
- Maximum length 20 minutes
- In your video, we would like to see you cover the following subjects:
- Outline of your life story (include family introductions, if applicable)
