He attended Sewanee University of the south and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English. He later attended Tulane University for his master’s degree in architecture. Prior to being named CEO at the American Institute of Architects, he worked with different organizations. He worked with the Architectural Records an editor-in-chief in 1996.
